Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - PharmD, BCOP

Houston, TX | Level II Trauma Center

A leading healthcare organization in Houston is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Clinical Specialist to join their pharmacy team within a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center. This role is ideal for a clinically driven PharmD professional with a passion for advancing patient outcomes and pharmacy practice.

Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist, you'll provide advanced pharmaceutical care across various hospital service areas, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication use. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence care at the bedside, lead educational initiatives, and support quality improvement programs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver expert-level medication management and clinical decision support
Lead patient-specific pharmacotherapy planning and transitions of care
Educate and mentor pharmacy students, residents, and staff
Contribute to formulary management, medication use evaluations, and hospital committees
Participate in research, protocol development, and continuous professional growth

Required Qualifications

PharmD from an ACPE-accredited program
Texas Pharmacist license or eligibility within 90 days
Completion of a PGY1 residency or 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience
BLS (AHA) certification required within 90 days
Must meet qualifications to precept residents within one year of hire

Preferred

PGY2 or fellowship in clinical specialty
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) credential
ACLS, PALS, NRP, and IV certification depending on assignment area
